Missing: One Relaxing Weekend

Defining Characteristics to Look For:
* Sleeping-in on Saturday morning.
* Lazy, semi-unplanned Saturday, including but not limited to...
1. Still in jammies at 11am (or later if needed!).
2. A non-cold cereal breakfast, i.e. pancakes, french toast, waffles or even just bacon, eggs and toast. And orange juice... lots of orange juice. :)
3. Watching Saturday morning Disney channel cartoons while snuggling on the couch with a favorite little boy and his blankie. (A personal favorite!)
4. A clean house (because when my hubby and I are both home and working together, we can have the place sparkling in just a couple hours).
5. A fun family outing in the late afternoon/post favorite little boy's naptime.
6. An hour (or so) to myself at the gym followed by a Jamba Juice fruit smoothie.
* Date night. Please note, this may take place on either a Friday or Saturday night.
* Church on Sunday. And other than choir, no extra meetings!!
* Sunday afternoon late lunch/early dinner meal... preferably something yummy that's been simmering away in the crockpot all day.
* Sunday afternoon naps.

Now... Here's a glimpse at what our weekend really looked like.
Saturday:
* Got to sleep in a little. Yay!
* Breakfast attempt - bacon, eggs and toast. Bacon looked a little questionable, toss that. Bread that Sean wanted was moldy, toss that. Settle for just eggs and orange juice. Sheesh... didn't we just go to the store?!
* 11am-2pm - Sean gone for career fair/service project with the youth.
* 2:30pm-6:30pm - I was gone for the YW tri-stake basketball tournament, which included 4 games, some overly-aggressive girls, a group of loud and obnoxious boys that got ticked that I kicked them off the stage (twice) to sit with the rest of the crowd, a couple of missing refs and some hard-core coaches. I'm pretty sure I even heard one of them swear at the ref! This is church ball people!
* 6:30-8:15pm - I'm still at the church to help decorate for the Stake dance that night (it was just 2 of us to set-up everything, blow up balloons and put up the decorations).
* 8:15-9:15pm - Hurry home (we're about 15 minutes away from the Stake center), change for the dance and pick up a couple slurpees for Shelley and I to sustain us through the dance.
* 9:15-11:30pm - Chaperon for the tri-stake dance, drink bright green punch (it was a Lucky Charm dance for St. Patty's day) and get tracked down by the same obnoxious boys from the basketball game so they can tell me (again) how uncool it was that I kicked them off the stage. Don't they have anything better to do? Get a life boys.
* 11:30pm-12am - Make a grocery store run for milk, bananas and bread. Still bitter about the questionable bacon from the morning and pick up a fresh package along with some Dr. Pepper after it was requested by a phone call from Sean and Stefan (one of the YM in our ward who was over watching a movie).
* 12:10am - Realize the gas tank is on "E" and stop to put $20 in for now. As far as I'm concerned, it's still Saturday night.
*12:20am - Finally HOME!!

Sunday:
* Ethan up at 8:45am... normally this would've been sleeping in, but I was still so exhausted that my eyes were doing that burning thing where it hurts to even have them open.
* Breakfast - Don't even attempt to make anything, even though we have the fresh bacon. Settle for cold cereal and call it good.
* 10:30am - Sean leaves for a YM presidency meeting. Meanwhile, I'm still so tired that I allow Ethan to watch 3 shows on playhouse Disney.
* 11:30am - Sean still gone and now practicing with the rest of the quartet that is singing in sacrament meeting.
* 12:15pm - Sean has choir practice.
* 1pm - Ethan and I actually get to church on time and meet up with Sean. We actually had a pretty good sacrament meeting this week, I mean as far as dealing with a squirmy toddler goes!! I purposely denied Ethan's snack request while we were getting ready for church so he would be hungry during sacrament meeting. Cruel mom, I know, but he sits still while he's eating! My new mom trick: I made Ethan a little snack mix with goldfish crackers, chex cereal, fruit snacks, a few marshmallows and raisins. He loved it! I think all the variety helped because usually we'll pack just goldfish crackers or just a fruit snack and I was happy to see that he didn't just pick out all the marshmallows first!
* 2:15pm - Take Ethan to Nursery (which he loves) and it was nice to see him go straight for the toy trucks and make himself at home. Of the 5 kids in there, only he and one other girl weren't crying.
* 4:30pm - Get home from church and crash! Change into comfy clothes and Ethan goes right down for a nap, no complaining. Sean and I enjoy some of his spicy, cheesy bean dip (complete with the "top secret" ingredient) while reading the paper. Later, we move to the couch to snuggle and share some Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia, right out of the carton!

The rest of our evening was pretty uneventful... But still, I think I need a weekend to recover from this last weekend.
And remember, if you can capture my missing relaxing weekend, please return unharmed. Thank you.

My relaxing weekend has been missing for so long I am beginning to forget what I'm missing. Thanks for reminding me!!

You guys sound busy! I hope next weekend is slightly more relaxing...oh, and I would KILL to have my kid sleep in until 8:45.

I agree. Where did all the relaxing weekends go!!!
I too would KILL for both of my kids to sleep until 8:45, I would even take just one of them sleeping in that long!

So, for the record, Ethan only sleeps in that late when he goes to bed late. That's the trade-off for having a kid that goes to bed after 9pm! But that's just the schedule we're on since Sean and I are at work during the day... we get to spend the most time with him in the evenings.

Oi Oi Yoi! Intense. Weekends are supposed to be breaks! I hope a wonderful weekend is found soon! That schedule sounds similar to mine the past month and 1/2, but luckily most of the things that were keeping me busy are off my plate now. It made such a difference not getting some recoup time! By the end of the 4th week, I was stressed major, and freaking out way too often. Now I'm back to normal....hurrah! Man, that basketball tournament sounds rough....ugh! Major energy zapper! Well, I hope you get to sneak in some fun/relaxing stuff soon, you definitely deserve it!
