Opportunity to go to the pumpkin patch was extremely limited this year. As in, I think we had ONE sorta-free Saturday! I don't remember what we had going on the 8th but I remember we were busy. Then the 15th was Super Saturday. The 22nd Sean was gone all day with the youth for an EFY thing in Portland and by the 29th it was too late. So we went late in the afternoon on the 15th and I'm glad we got too!
Last year we went to Bi-Zi Farms, which is super close to our house, and had lots of fun. But it's also $8/person to get in (though this includes a free pumpkin, hay ride, etc.) so we skipped it this year due to lack of time to enjoy it. Instead, we went to Joe's Farms which is just up the road a few miles. Free to get in, $1 hay rides and we were still able to get 5 pumpkins for less than the cost to get into Bi-Zi Farms, so we were happy with that. Besides, my 1st reason for going to the pumpkin patch is to get pumpkins/keep tradition/make memories, but a close 2nd reason is for PICTURES!!! Initially, Ethan gave me one shot. He wanted to go play on the hay bales and I said I wanted a picture first, so he sat on a pumpkin, flashed me a grin for about .25 seconds and was off! This was the result:
But, of course, I couldn't leave it just at that. Ethan ran off to play with the kids on the hay bales and I got a couple pictures there (and a short video).

And here's what I got during the rest of our hunting for the perfect pumpkin...

And here's a funny little story from when we went to pay for our pumpkins inside the little store... Ethan immediately went for a shopping basket. Not the top one, mind you, like most people would do. Not the second one down, either. Nope, he kept handing me the "reject" baskets until he found just the right one. RED. It IS his favorite color after all! And then he carried that basket all around, even though we didn't put anything in it!

Oh, and check out these monster cabbages they had!! You don't see cabbage in the grocery store that size, that's for sure.
