Anyway... The last weekend of February a small group of some of my Vancouver friends (Jenn, Keri, Vicki) and I drove up to Seattle to celebrate Jenn's birthday. Along the way we picked up Vicki's cousin, Erin, and all met up and Jenn's cousin Helena's house. Did you follow all that?! Oh, and since we were all there for Jenn's birthday WE got presents from her. Naturally. Ha ha!! Jammie pants in various pink patterns that Jenn had made (each print picked specifically for each person), matching t-shirts, socks, water bottles and a CD. Oh, and did I mention that Jenn had created her own LOGO for the weekend?! The shirts, water bottle and CD all had the logo with our name on it. Awesome. I love having such a talented, generous friend!! :) We unloaded all our gear, changed our shoes for flip flops and headed to the nail salon for mani-pedi's. I got just a pedicure. It was a first for me. The cheap-o in me never liked the idea of paying for something I could do well on my own. I have cute nail polish colors... I have a steady hand... Why pay? Let me tell you, I am converted!! Not as a regular thing, but maybe a couple times a year. I loved the extra spa treatment and foot soak and that I didn't have Ethan bugging me to also paint his toes!
While making dinner and eating it we snacked on our dessert! Helena had bought out half of a French bakery up the road and we ooohed and aaahed over all of these treats.
After dinner was cleaned up and jammies were put on we did what women on a girls-only weekend do best. We talked! And talked. And talked. And then talked some more. I'm pretty sure it was after 2am before everyone finally headed off to bed. And the whole time I was sniffling and trying to keep my sinus headache in check. Did I mention I was sick for this trip? Yeah, that part sucked.
In the morning, breakfast was french toast, bacon and grapples. Have you ever had a grapple? I always see them in the store, but they are sort of spendy. They smell so, so good though! Like grape candy. The texture was like an apple, but unfortunately they were lacking a little in flavor.
Next it was time for showers and packing up and heading to downtown Seattle! We stopped at Macy's (I think for a bathroom break) and then had some fun in the accessory department.

We had piroshkies for lunch (on my insistence, based on our 2010 Seattle trip) and spent the rest of our time at Pike's Market. Oh, and Erin and I had the best hot chocolate I have ever tasted. Totally gourmet. Got it at the Chocolate Box. Along with a to-die-for chocolate chunk cookie. I highly recommend it. Especially if it is cold and rainy when you visit Seattle. Which, I believe, is most of the year up there!

Once we were thoroughly frozen to the bone, we headed to Ruth's Chris steakhouse for some half-price appetizers and creme brulee. And so Keri could sit down and not go into labor.
