So,
uh, May is kinda seeming like a blur... I don't really remember what we did all month! I do remember that it was pretty much a month of solid gray [see a couple posts down] which made it hard to get any yard work done and has seriously delayed us getting our garden put in. We've finally had some sun and are clearing the spot. Hopefully it's not
too late... [
Garden people, tell me it is not too late!!!] Moving along...
* "Date-night"-movie-of-the-month: Well.... Our date night was non-existent in May, but we did manage to both see the same movie!! Sean went with some guys from church for "guys night out" [we won't even get started on how jealous I was!] and then later in the month I went with some [female] friends who wanted to see...

Either way, we both saw it and it was awesome!! If you saw the first one and liked it, but haven't seen the second one... go see it!! :)
* Work: Well, my replacement is gone. She only lasted 5 months, but really, that was about 2 1/2 months too long. None of us ever really got along and she had some serious issues with me still working there. I think one of the final straws was when I was trying to balance one of our largest accounts and found a mistake that should've easily been avoided and had instead snowballed into a whole mess that took at least 8 hours to clean up. She was let go on a Monday, a Craigslist ad put out on Tuesday morning, an interview for the new person with our office manager Tuesday afternoon, an interview with me early Wednesday afternoon and a job offer issued/accepted late Wednesday afternoon. The new person started on Thursday of that week! And she is working out well! We get along great and she knows her stuff. I've already told her how impressed I am with her work considering she only gets to train with me 2 days a week.
* Food storage: I am so excited that our food storage is growing! We've been working on filling it with foods that we actually eat on a regular basis and then just rotating the new stuff in, etc. Next we need to figure out how to beef up our flour, sugar, wheat supply. We have no wheat {gasp!} and I don't want to buy my flour in such big bulk that it doesn't get used. Anyway, that is one of our next steps. Last month, I watched and waited for some shelving I wanted to go on sale. It did and I went out and bought and assembled the shelf and reorganized everything that very day.

This was for a lot of our dry goods, but now I want to go buy another one for all of our canned goods.
* Strawberry Jam: Speaking of food storage, I tried my hand at strawberry freezer jam for the first time.

We don't have the freezer space for too many, so when 4lb. containers of strawberries went on sale I picked one up and then went to a friend's house to make the jam. We both bought no-cook freezer jam pectin and followed the recipe, but it only called for 1 1/2 cups sugar which didn't seem like much but we just went with it. Well, we haven't tried any yet [we already had jam in the fridge] but she said her and her family don't think it's quite sweet enough. We may have to up the sugar ratio next time!
* Ward Temple Trip: We went on our first ward temple trip with our WA peeps. We're in the same temple district, so it was a little weird to look around and not see 5th ward faces. We were able to share baby-sitter with another family in the ward and then attempted an early session with another couple. Unfortunately, there was just enough traffic that we didn't make it to the session we wanted [so we'd be out in time for the ward chapel session] and decided to do initiatories. I had never done them, so it was a neat experience. We had a few extra minutes before the ward chapel session to grab a bite to eat in the cafeteria which leads me to....
* Egg Salad: Can you believe I'd never had an egg salad sandwich?! I mean, I love tuna salad and I love chicken salad even more, but I'd just never really thought to try egg salad. Oh, man... so good!! I've been craving it ever since! There's a "
grown-up egg salad" BLT sandwich recipe from my favorite food blog [
Our Best Bites] that I want to try out.
* Yo-Cream: On our way home from the temple, we stopped for some frozen yogurt at this new
hot spot. I mean, I
love me some frozen yogurt, so this was right up my alley! It's a self-serve yogurt bar with about 8 different flavor options [12 if you count swirls] plus a plethora of topping and sauce choices. You grab your bowl, fill it up with the sweet creamy goodness [I always opt for a little vanilla and then fruit or berry flavors] and then load on the toppings... everything from fresh berries to crushed candy bars to cereal. Then, they just weigh your little concoction and give you the final price. I think it was 40 cents an ounce. Mine was
Mmmm, Mmmm Good! I highly recommend it if you have one in your general vicinity [ours is about 10-15 minutes away and technically in another state, but worth the drive!] or you can come visit us and pick some up on your way up the 205!
* New calling: Sean already got a new calling in our ward. Not like I didn't see that one coming! Ever since I had to teach class one Sunday on my own [Sean stayed home since he and Ethan were sick] I've had a feeling that I would lose my partner in crime...
errrr.... co-teacher! They just reorganized our Bishopric, which meant we needed a new Young Men presidency and Sean is now the Priests Quorum adviser. This means I get to handle about ten 10-11 year old kids by myself every Sunday!
